La douzième semaine (12)

Wowowow 3 months down! It’s definitely spring now, the flowers are blossoming and the weather is acting like a dramatic teenage girl who can’t make up her mind.

It was Florine’s (one of my good friends) birthday on Monday and we all went to the super market during a free period and bought really healthy food: chocolate (yes milka, Luisa), sour and sweet lollies, chips and fizzy – the typical dentist approved jazz. We spent a good 2 hours trying to make our way through it but realised pretty quickly that we brought a bit too much- especially as we’d just had one of the canteen’s giant sized lunches earlier – but we had a great time laughing and joking around. I had so much fun just chilling with them, I really felt like I belonged.

Other than that, this week has been pretty meh, I haven’t really done anything that different – just the normal school routine which I am actually starting to enjoy more than in NZ despite the day being 9 hours long. This weekend I am staying with my new host family to see if it’s a good combination. I’m torn between jumping for excitement and trembling with nerves!

Differences:

  1. The adverts for beauty products really aren’t that different but I just have to mention it because it makes me laugh so much. You know how the perfume products in NZ all have that person advertising them with a french or Italian accent? It’s just so much cooler and more hilarious watching it french because the women are really dramatic.
  2. The names are quite different. I still forget the names of some of my friends (I know, my memory is tragic) because the way you pronounce them is so bizarre. E.g there’s the new names like Pauline, Magdalina, Enzo and then the names which I recognise written down, but the pronunciation is totally different: Jaqueline, Caroline, Elodie.
  3. Because of the long school days, we have shorter terms before the holidays. Each term is only six weeks long and we have 4 sets of 2 week holidays and a 2 month one! That’s a winner for me!

So that’s basically it, just a quick update this time:)
