This week has had it’s ups and downs. I swear France literally finds any excuse to have days off school so I had Thursday and Friday off. I didn’t do anything that amazing except claim the neighbours swimming pool as mine for a few hours in the 34 Degree Celsius weather. On Friday I spent the went to visit an elderly New Zealand couple who moved to France 12 years ago. They were so nice and we had a great time talking about the frustrations of learning a language and things we missed about NZ (the scenery). I’m sure I’ll see them again. That night we went to Louise’s theatre play which was really cool, but I didn’t understand anything because they spoke a little too quietly ; )<\/p>\n
On Saturday Diago’s family invited me to them join them at the pre Musicalarue music festival. The Musicalarue is basically the cochella of France where all the most famous bands play for several days. We went to the pre festival where they chose which bands would play. I loved all the bands I listened to but my favourite was probably a french band called Kevin Castagna, which was made up of a guitar, singer, accordion and double bass. There was this other teeny group; a women and a man with a guitar who biked on a tandem dressed as air hostesses. They biked around and stopped wherever they please and got someone to spin the wheel of countries on the back of their bike and depending on which country the arrow pointed to, was the language of the next song they would sing!<\/p>\n
On the Sunday we went to Diago’s again to have a picnic together. When I think of a picnic I think of light snacks, when french think of picnics they think of 5 course meals 4 hours long and stuffing yourself like one would at an all-you-can-eat-buffet. That picnic must have taken it’s toll on me because the next day I went home from school early because I was sick and spent Tuesday off as well.<\/p>\n
Also a horse fly flew into my room this morning and woke me up and I freaked out to the max \ud83d\ude00 Aaaaaand that’s that, this Sunday I’m off to Messines, Belgium for a week to pay my respects at the 100th WW1\u00a0Commemoration of the Battle of Messines. I’m a little nervous about being alone for the week but thanks to the JPC trip I am a lot more confident with trains and getting around places.<\/p>\n
