We started off the week going to acrobranche with my host family and their cousins. Acrobranche is basically a playground in the trees, you are attached to a harness and have to navigate your way around and complete levels. I had an awesome time, every one did until…. DUN DUN DUN… an ear piercing scream rippled through the air. Gwen was stranded on the the most difficult level in the middle of a flying fox, 15m off the ground, hanging by her hair which had gotten tangled in the cable! After 20 minutes of trying to untangle it, they finally managed to get her down, with a little less hair than before and a new haircut:)
Originally, I was going to go to my friend Ilona’s house straight after but as you can imagine everyone was a bit shocked so instead we returned home and my friend came to pick me up. It was my first time seeing Ilona in 3 months because she had just done an exchange in Germany. We had an awesome time telling each other about our holidays and the ups and downs of doing and exchange – mainly ups of course!!
The next day she gave me the true french cuisine experience – we went crazy in the kitchen and made choux with caramel and Chantilly, Tarte aux Mirabelles and Kouign Amanne. They were so easy to make and absolutely delicious. I will definitely be making them a lot when I return.
I ended up staying another night at her house because there was a crisis with the host family. A fox had gotten into the section and killed 30 chickens! It made me think of Fantastic Mr Fox to the max. The next morning we just chilled and played games, and then I had to go home to Gwen who was still moping about her hair-with good reason!
This Sunday we are going to a theme park called “Walabe” which is apparently very good so I’m pretty pumped, and then day after I leave for 10 days to Sweden. I’ll be travelling alone again, but I’m stressing abit this time as it’s my first time navigating airports alone. I’ll be staying with Sophia M, a German exchange student who stayed with my Aunt last year, we got along super well so I’m excited to see her. I really hope 10 days speaking English won’t affect my french too much when I return!
I’ll add pictures for this post when I get back from Sweden, and while I’m away I won’t be updating sorry – the laptop isn’t coming with me.
