La quarante-quatrième semaine (44)

School started up again this week, and so did all the homework 😉

On Tuesday morning I had to say my 3 minute speech on “Mexican fish that can live in Toxic H2S waters”. It went surprisingly well, I’d practised it to death and it payed off. The whole class said that they could understand me which is always a good sign.

Tuesday night I got some sad news – Grandad had died. This time I was prepared, I already knew that the news was coming and finally, it was over. I felt really sad obviously but also so relieved – it’s been a long time coming. Mum, Dad and Zoe are coming next week so that’s a huge relief, I think it makes it a lot easier. The next day at school was a half day so I dropped by at the cathedral and lit a candle. My friends were such great support.

The highlight of the week was trying snails. My host family said that I absolutely HAD to try snails before leaving France, so for Friday night’s dinner we had snails (and pizza for all the kids – they hate them!). I had a tiny nibble – call me a wimp but I couldn’t eat the whole thing. They just looked so much like leeeeeeches!!
