La quarante deuxième / troisième semaine (42/43)

It’s getting to that time when I am starting to realise that all of this will be over soon and I’ll back to my normal life in NZ. It’s so easy to forget that this is just an exchange, because for me it’s a whole new life and the idea of leaving it behind honestly terrifies me.

I spent the first half of the school holidays just lazing around, hanging with my host sisters and playing with the dogs outside. The second half were a lot more interesting. My best friends Caroline and Floriane invited me over to their houses. We stayed at Floriane’s house for the first 2 nights, and then Caro’s the 3rd night. The first day we attended mass at the Cathedral of Baza’s for Florianes confirmation. It was as cool as Mass can get, the Bishop was there, the organ was singing and the atmosphere was buzzing. I felt really lucky to be invited to Flo’s confirmation because I know how special it was for her.

Afterwards, Caro, Flo and I went back to her’s to prepare for the 30 or so guests coming to celebrate her and Elodie’s (her twin) confirmation. A huge lunch was prepared and we stuffed ourselves with food while laughing away with her cousins, aunts and uncles. I didn’t feel out of place because I’d already met them all when I joined Floriane’s family for Easter. After everyone left we were faced with 1 million dishes which we somehow ended up having fun cleaning up, although with all our music and dancing it took way longer than it should have XD.

The following 3 days were spent staying up waaaay too late, laughing until we hurt and just having fun together. It was the best. The thought of leaving seemed so hard afterwards.
