La Cinquieme Semaine (5)

So once again I am doubting my sanity after going for another run – I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I actually find it really refreshing and *gasp* almost fun! Louise and I are developing a small habit of going for runs on Saturday mornings. Everyone sleeps in until midday here, I wake up at about 8am naturally so Louise and I decided to start jogging to kill time. We have a nice little track (2km) which goes through the forest and a little of the town. Louise does one lap then runs back, and then I do another 2.

On Sunday Lina took me for a bike ride around the town: Bernos Beaulac. It’s your typical french town and really cute! It’s very spread out being in the country and some scenery reminded me a bit of New Zealand! Lina took me to this nice bridge overlooking the stream, she said she always used to go there and read, but then a main highway was built just around the corner and now all you hear is traffic. She said that there are plans for a huge train railway going through the forest where I normally walk, and I often see posters up against it. That night we all watched the lion king and just chilled out.

Other than that the week was pretty normal, Elisabeth has been in Morocco, but the language barrier hasn’t been much of an issue because I am familiar with the families daily routines. Louise is doing a one week exchange with her class to Germany and in return we receive two from the other German class. We found out who they are: 2 best friends who speak about as much french as I did when I arrived, I think they are coming in march. I’m pretty excited to meet them!

In science class the teacher made me do a test with everyone else, I spent the whole time translating it, and it was so annoying because the questions I understood I didn’t know the answers to because we haven’t covered the topics in NZ.

So this is the last week of school! Next Wednesday I might not update because we are leaving for the Pyrenees to go skiing!! But I will definitely at some point before the following weekend.

Differences of the week:

  1. Text language is different. I should have seen this one coming, when my friends text me in french it’s hard enough, but now I have to full on decode it – I was bad enough at that in English! Cc means coucou (like the bird saying hi) and mdrrr means lol, there’s heaps of others but I honestly have no idea what they mean.

  1. Ho! Je n’avais pas pensé à cette différence de langage dans les textos!! Tu avais compris que “mdr”, c’était un abrégé de “mort de rire”?
